Scott was born in Spanish Fork, Utah and grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is married to Roxann Faux. Scott earned a Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree in Accounting. Upon Graduation from Utah State University he went to work for the national CPA firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. auditing corporations, banks and savings and loans, corporations and governmental entities. Scott also worked for Arthur Andersen & Co. advising clients on tax issues and performing compliance tax work primarily for individuals, partnerships and corporations.
Scott received his Juris Doctor from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. He began his legal practice as an attorney in Salt Lake City, Utah and later practiced in Utah County emphasizing asset protection and estate planning. Scott brings over 20 years of practical experience to Barney McKenna & Olmstead. He has extensive experience and training in estate planning matters and provides business and estate planning strategies focusing on the needs and concerns of his clients with varied and diverse backgrounds.
Scott has taught business and legal classes and has given lectures to various groups on Estate Planning and Wealth Management. Scott’s practice focuses on Estate Planning and Estate Administration, Wills and Trusts, Asset Protection, Tax, Business Law and Business Entities (Corporations, Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies, Professional Entities, Joint Ventures, Charitable Organizations and Tax-Exempt Organizations).
INTERESTS
Scott is active in religious and scouting organizations. Scott loves to travel and has visited the Louvre, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Smithsonian Institute, Skansen and many other museums. He also has a membership to the Rosenbruch Wildlife Museum in St. George, Utah.
